How Joss gained MORE ENERGY, reduced her medication and lost a total of 46cms!
What message you’d love to give to other Mums out there that don’t believe they can change?
When I joined the Busy Mum Programme it was a spur of the moment decision. I knew I was avoiding wearing my jeans and had been consciously wearing baggy clothes all summer. I ate well, I was semi active how could I be getting fatter. Weirdly after I took the photos of myself at the start of the programme I could see I had been putting on weight for ages and it was going straight to my back before I realised it. I only really noticed it when I started to get bigger round my middle. I was shocked, but what bothered me the most was my health and lack of motivation and interest in exercise. Another major factor for me is that I had severely high blood pressure which is controlled by taking a lot of medication. I couldn’t afford to not take charge of my health, weight and fitness. I wanted to feel in control of my day to day life, to be less reactive to stress and joining was the first step towards what I now know is life long health.
I think we all have the power to change within us, however most of us need support to put the thinking into action, and to motivate us to stay on the path long enough for it to become a habit. I want to tell people that any Mum, anyone at all, facing all kinds of challenges can succeed on this programme as it looks at the way we think and how to successfully change the way we see ourselves. That was huge for me, as although I had lost weight before I had never thought much about mindset, setting goals other than to reach a certain weight. I think the best tool on this programme is the connection with other people. It is massively motivating and ensures you always have someone to keep in touch with, to help you overcome the hurdles that life keeps throwing at us. Lots of Mums feel like they are struggling with their health and energy, are sick of telling themselves they will eat better and lose weight but never quite manage it, feeling like the pressure of family life means they don’t have anything left for their own well being. I think to realise it just takes a tiny first step, and it is within our reach with support and guidance is such a relief. Just take one day at a time, and starting this programme was my first step.
What you enjoyed most about the program?
For me the success is that I am reducing the amount of medication I need because I am fitter, have lost weight, and am eating proper nutrient dense food which I pretty much already had in the house. I have lost 4 kgs and 46cm overall and gained energy, fitness, muscle tone and enormous satisfaction from being with a team of amazing other Mums to do it. I’m not much of an athlete and I loved the workouts, feeling so good afterwards. That was new for me! Cathy, our trainer, was wonderful and answered all of our questions and gave us positive encouragement every single day. We were reminded to concentrate on consistency not perfection and we realised that everything was set up for us to just follow the steps, make the changes especially with mindset and achieve the results. This was reinforced everyday. The menus were great and very easy to cook, with normal family meals. The information we received from Kelly, and the extra workouts and posts along the way also gave us so much knowledge, inspiration and encouragement it didn’t seem to hard to forego some of those foods which we knew were harming us anyway! But the best bit? The feeling of belonging and of giving and getting support from these beautiful Mums has lifted my spirit and made me feel so much happier in life than I was. It is great to receive but it is even better to be able to give support to my fellow Mums. It was the best thing I have ever done and the support network was crucial in my success.
