You get more of what you focus on
When I was learning to ride a motorbike, my instructor was quick to tell me to focus my attention on the direction I wanted to go in.
So when I found myself on my brand new motorbike looking at a kerb and thinking to myself “don’t look at the kerb,” let’s just say it didn’t end well.
Ouch!
(I wrote my bike off and nearly myself in the process!)
“You get what you focus on” is true for life in general.
Why is it so tempting to focus our attention on what we don’t want?
Our brain, in the grand scheme of human evolution, hasn’t had a long period of time in history where we’ve been able to have extended periods of happiness.
It’s a natural thing for us to be programmed for survival with mechanisms like fight, flight or freeze to keep us alive.
But what it means in this day and age is our more evolved brain is constantly on the look out for problems.
When you focus on problems, along come more problems.
If instead you can focus on solutions, and the good things you have in your life, you’ll get more of that.
At a vibrational level, when we’re complaining about problems we’re emitting a much lower vibe than if we’re grateful and happy.
Like attracts like, and that includes vibrations – so if you’re in a more positive, higher vibrational state, then you’ll be a magnet for more good things to flow into your life.
Cool isn’t it! I dig that shiz.
What have you been focusing on lately that you don’t want more of?
What can you choose to focus on instead?
