Julz’s Complete Life Change
Prior to joining the Busy Mums programme I was lacking in good habits as far as exercise and nutrition went.
I knew I wasn’t providing my family with a good role model in these areas but I just didn’t know how to make a change.
I had tried different things over the years but my mindset just wasn’t in the right place to build any sustainable habits.
One day I saw the ad come up for Busy Mums on facebook and I decided there and then that today was the day I started to make some life long changes.
The programme provided me with all the tools and support I needed to turn my lifestyle around and be the person and mum I wanted to be. In my mind, weight loss was going to happen, but it was my other goals that really mattered. I wanted to be able to play sports with my kids, I wanted to be able to keep up with them and enjoy our time in the outdoors without feeling that I was holding them back. I wanted to be able to do all the physical activities that I used to do prior to having kids.
At the start I set myself a goal of wanting to be able to fit into a women’s fit wetsuit by summer instead of the massive man’s one that I was wearing. It was such an awesome day when I walked into Torpedo 7 and grabbed a colourful woman’s one off the rack and it fit!
Before the programme I took medication to keep my skin under control. I had suffered from rosacea and terrible acne since my early 20s. Within 3 months I came off that medication. Clean eating and lots of hydration helped so many of the ailments that I had just “put up” with.
My skin and hair have started to glow and people have noticed. When they ask me what products I am using – they get surprised when I say “none.”
From someone who wore a lot of make up to hide my skin, to now happily going to work and out socially without it, it’s a massive shift. I feel like the real me is back and happy to be exposed!
The support that the Busy Mum’s team provide is fantastic. The weekly phone calls and video coaching calls, plus the amazing facebook page all contribute to the feeling of not doing this alone. There are so many amazing woman out there in my virtual Busy Mum’s whanau that build me up, support me and celebrate my successes with me. When you’ve had a stink day or something is not going well, the busy mum’s team is always there to build you back up. You’re never alone. It’s not an instagram perfect world on our forums, it’s real life.
What I love most about Busy Mums is that is it REAL! it’s designed for women who have little time for themselves because they are busy! As a single mum, who works full time with very sporty kids I’m never home. But the programme has taught me that if I’m prepared for the week ahead I actually do have time to eat well and exercise and have time for myself.
One of Kelly’s key phrases is “evidence not excuses” and
my advice to mums out there who think that they don’t have the time, is to keep that thought in your head. If you truly want to make a change in your life, whether that be health, fitness or general wellbeing OR all of the above you can do this! One little step at a time.
It’s not a quick fix, but you can start to see results very quickly with the right mindset.
Ladies we are worth it! Our children need happy, healthy mums, our partners and extended whanau need happy healthy women in their lives too. We owe it to ourselves to invest in our own futures!
